Dental Care
Dental health is very important in your pet’s life. Starting to brush your puppy’s teeth now will help him or her to get used to this routine and prevent problems in the future. Brushing should be done once a day with pet toothpaste. There are also CET® Chews, which are rawhides impregnated with toothpaste. If you can’t brush your pet’s teeth every day then this may be a good option.
Ear Care
Your pet’s ears should be cleaned at least once a month, some breeds need to be cleaned more often. Use a pet ear cleanser (like Vet Solutions®) when cleaning your pet’s ears.
Nail Trimming
Nail trims are important for your pet. It is a good idea to get your puppy used to nail trims at a young age. If you are not able to trim nails at home, you can make an appointment for a veterinary nurse to trim the nails here.
House Training, Chewing and Biting
Behavior is the number one reason pets get surrendered or euthanized. Biting and chewing can be a big problem in puppies. They need to learn when they are young that this is not acceptable behavior. To help prevent unwanted chewing give your puppy something else he/she can chew on like a Kong® or a busy buddy® toy.
Spay or Neuter Reminder
This should be done when your pet is 5 months old or at a Dr.’s recommendation.
